About
At Eigen X I worked in the Analytics team to redesigned and mockup their current Hospital Admissions Dashboard in their Life Sciences & Healthcare Portal. All of their dashboard designs were built in Tableau & I redesigned them in Figma before working in Tableau.
When looking at their dashboard they had dropdown filters & two other tabs on opposite sides of the filters (the Heat Map & Detailed View).
As I looked through the dataset, I created a persona to help define what I am solving for, brainstormed ways to present the data in order to answer those questions, wireframed, designed, prototyped, tested, revised to make a new design for this dashboard.
Notes & Comments
My notes from the previous dashboard that I wanted to keep in mind when redesigning.
Views/Tabs
The tabs (the Heat Map & Detailed View) should be together to make it easier to read and switch between different views.
Having both tabs separated, makes the user experience less enjoyable if there is a lot of mouse scrolling.
The same goes for eyes. It is less enjoyable having to look across a monitor or screen to see what the tabs are on and search for what they want.
Filters
If you filtered a gender (by clicking the male or female colors, or using the drop down filter at the top), the pie chart would show 100%.
KPIs
In the KPIs, the one all the way to the right says "Avg Sat Score". "Sat" stands for "Satisfaction", so it is how satisfied the customer is.
Admitted vs Non Admitted Breakdown
Cannot filter by month. It is also unsure how it is breaking up what dates get to show up in the legend.
You can't see how many patients were not admitted in the bar chart even though the title says "Admitted vs Non Admitted Breakdown".
Just by looking at the chart it would be assumed that blue would be Non Admitted since it is blue in the title text but if you click or hover over that bar, it says it is the total number of patients.
The design would feel cleaner if the data visualizations were aligned with those below.
The numbers in admitted vs not admitted do now show up in the red overlapping bars but in the bar chart below, the numbers show up inside the orange overlapping bars.
Pie Chart
The pie chart takes up too much room.
Same issue as mentioned in Filters.
